Again Ford Recalls Over A Million Vehicles

Published

on

Ford Motor Co. is issuing a recall for 1,075,299 vehicles in the United States due to a critical issue that can prevent rear-view camera images from displaying. This defect significantly raises the risk of a crash, as stated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and reported by CNBC.

The recall affects certain vehicles among the Bronco, F-150, Edge, Escape, Corsair, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 models manufactured in 2021-2024, according to the US auto safety regulator. The recall also affects 2022-2024 Expedition, Transit, Mach-E, Lincoln Nautilus, Ranger, Mustang and Navigator models.

Ford said it is aware of one claim of a minor accident resulting in property damage related to the problem. NHTSA stated that a software bug can cause the rear view camera to lag, freeze or not display. The agency added that dealers are expected to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software for free via an over-the-air update. Letters notifying owners of the security risk are expected to be mailed by June 16, and a second letter will be sent when a fix is available, which is expected in the third quarter of 2025.
