Apple co-founder Steve Jobs used to change his Mercedes-AMG every six months to avoid using license plate.
Back then, California had a law that gives car owners six months of grace to put license plate on a new car.
This loophole allows Apple billionaire Steve Jobs to continue driving his car without a plate until his death in 2011.
Before January 1 2019, California in the United States had a law that gives car owners six months of grace to put license plate on a new car, a loophole that allows Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, to continue driving his car without a plate until his death in 2011.
According to reports confirmed by Jon Callas – a former Apple employee, this loophole in California DMV regulations allows Steve Jobs to continue to lease a silver Mercedes-AMG SL55 every six months — trading it for a new one.

“At no time would he ever be in a car as old as six months… and thus there was no legal requirement to have the number plates fitted,” writes David Heath of iTWire, who heard the definitive version of the story from Jon Callas.
“One might also assume that the leasing company was happy — they had an endless supply of luxury cars to on-sell with the previous driver being none other than Steve Jobs.”
Before switching to the Mercedes-AMG SL55 sports coupe, Jobs also rode in several Porsche 911 without number plates — replacing his black Porsche 911 with another black Porsche 911.
While no one knows why the American business magnate loves driving cars without license plates – a habit he reportedly followed for three decades – it maybe for privacy. At the time of his death, he had amassed a fortune worth $10.2 billion.
