Audi To Build an Assembly Plant In Georgia (USA) For Large SUV Production
Audi will build an assembly plant in Georgia to produce 200,000 SUVs annually. US President Donald Trump announced this at a rally in Perry, Georgia.
The German automaker has suffered under Trump’s tariff war because it imports its cars for the American market from Europe and Mexico. The president now wants to show that his tariffs are helping the American economy. Critics say that this has caused car prices to rise and that uncertainty regarding tariffs has delayed corporate decisions to invest.
According to Audi, approximately 4,500 people can be employed at the assembly plant. Construction begins next year, and production of the cars is in the early 2030s.
The company also plans to produce 25,000 cars per year in South Carolina. This will take place at a Volkswagen factory under construction in Blythewood.
