According to Bentley, the current V8 engine will first make its departure in the UK, Europe and Middle East, Africa & India (MEAI), with final deliveries expected to be completed by June. Other markets will follow later.
While the Continental and Flying Spur ranges will get an hybrid powertrain in 2024, this un-electrified current-generation 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine will still be available for the fast-selling Bentayga SUV family.
Bentley has produced more than 53,000 examples of its V8-powered Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur cars since the British luxury marque introduced the hand-crafted 4.0-litre V8 engine in 2012.
The announcement to retire the 4.0-litre Twin-turbo V8 in Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur follows the unveiling of an all-new, performance-focused V8 hybrid powertrain that will replace Bentley’s iconic W12 engine.
Bentley’s all-new, performance-focused V8 hybrid powertrain is set to power the brand’s new generation of daily supercars. The new hybrid powertrain puts out more than 739 horsepower, and allows a 50 mile (80 km) electric-only range.
