LAMATA partners with Lagos Waterways Authority (LASWA) to create a seamless transportation network for Lagos.

This integration project, funded by AFD, aims to integrate water routes with existing road and rail based transportation.

LASWA’s ‘OMI EKO’ project plans presented to LAMATA will significantly improve connectivity across Lagos.

To make water travel a more sustainable option for Lagosians, the agency aims to add 78 electric vessels to its fleet.

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has partnered with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to create a seamless transportation network for Lagos.

This integration project, funded by the French Development Agency (Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD), aims to integrate water routes with existing road and rail based transportation.

The LASWA team, led by their General Manager, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel presented its ‘OMI EKO’ project project plans to LAMATA. These plans include detailed designs, timelines, and an implementation strategy.

“This collaboration is key to achieving the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s goal of a unified multi-modal integrated transport system for Lagos.”

“The ‘OMI EKO’ project will significantly improve connectivity across Lagos. It focuses on 10 priority routes, 47 feeder routes, and the construction of 25 ferry terminals.





To make water travel a more sustainable option for Lagosians, the agency said it will add additional seventy-eight (78) electric vessels to its fleet.

“With about three quarters out of Lagos’ 20 local government areas and 37 Local Council Development Authority (LCDA) accessible by water, this project has the potential to revolutionize transportation in the megacity.”
