Ghanaian Who Stole Police Armored Vehicle Jailed For One Month

Ghanaian man who stole Police Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) in April jailed for one month. 

Theft occurred when the driver briefly stepped away, leaving the engine running in a busy market area. 

Got reduced sentence because he was a young, first-time offender who admitted his guilt without prolonging the trial.

A Ghanaian man, identified as Ebenezer Frimpong, now understands the severe legal consequences of his criminal actions after bagging a one-month prison sentence for stealing an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) belonging to the Ghana Police Service.

After receiving reports of the theft, law enforcement officers launched a coordinated pursuit, tracking the suspect along the Nkawie–Mim route, where the 26-year-old unemployed man was eventually intercepted and arrested.

His sentencing on Tuesday, July 21, by the Kwadaso Circuit Court in Kumasi comes three months after Frimpong stole the APC. The theft occurred when the driver briefly stepped away, leaving the engine running in a busy market area. 

Following a psychiatric evaluation that declared the suspect fit to stand trial, the judge handed down a reduced sentence because he was a young, first-time offender who admitted his guilt without prolonging the trial.

“The suspect was apprehended without further incident, and the vehicle was recovered intact,” a security source said at the time of arrest, noting that the armored vehicle was retrieved without damage.
