Koenigsegg Unleashes A 2300 Hp Gemera Mega Hyper GT That Blows The Competition Away
The Swedish Koenigsegg likes little more than building automotive superlatives. This is the production-ready Koenigsegg Gemera. An extreme four-seater that is available with two crazy hybrid powertrains, one of which produces 2,300 hp, thanks in part to a powerful V8.
Wait a minute, the Koenigsegg Gemera has been around for a few years, hasn’t it? Beats. Koenigsegg already presented the Gemera in March 2020, but now the final production model is really ready. The Gemera has not been lying on a shelf somewhere in recent years, Koenigsegg has significantly adjusted the powertrains of what the Swedes themselves describe as a ‘Megacar’.
The Koenigsegg Gemera would initially only be supplied with three electric motors of a combined 1,115 hp, assisted by a more than 600 hp 2.0 three-cylinder that was baptized ‘Tiny Friendly Giant’ (TFG). The engine palette now looks different but has certainly not become less extreme. The fantastic three-cylinder with two turbos remains, but the three electric motors are replaced by a new electric motor that the Swedes have baptized ‘Dark Matter’. This unit already delivers 800 hp and 1,250 Nm. The transmission is the Jesko’s wacky Light Speed Tourbillion Transmission, a nine-speed machine that’s tied to the rest of the powertrain without the intervention of a flywheel and distributes power to all four wheels. The Gemera with 2.
The Koenigsegg Gemera HV8 is even newer. This Gemera also has the 800 hp Dark Matter electric motor and the innovative Light Speed Tourbillion Transmission. The combustion engine in this variant is not a three-cylinder, but a – hold on – 1,500 hp and 1,500 Nm strong 5.0 V8 with the turbos between the cylinder banks. The system power is 2,300 hp and 2,750 Nm. Oof. Each kilo of Gemera is propelled by 1.11 horsepower, a pretty bizarre ratio. The Gemera is and remains just a few centimeters after 5 meters long and can accommodate four people. The luggage compartment is still 200 liters. The first copies will roll off the production line at the end of next year. The first customers will receive their Gemera in ‘the first part’ of 2025.
