Land Rover Discovery Clocks 35 Years And An Anniversary Model Has Been Launched

The Land Rover Discovery is 35 years old, and the English are celebrating this in a remarkably modest way. The seven-seater SUV is being given a rather inconspicuous festive look for the occasion. This is the Land Rover Discovery 35th Anniversary Edition.
In 1989, Land Rover launched the first generation of the Discovery. The first ‘Disco’ shared its technology with the Range Rover, but had smaller engines and was initially only available as a three-door. The cheaper alternative to the Range Rover proved to be a success. 35 years later, a Discovery is still in Land Rover showrooms, and there has even been a sister model called the Discovery Sport for years. To celebrate the thirty-fifth anniversary of the model name Discovery, Land Rover now sees it as a brand. The English are creating a 35th Anniversary Edition.
The Land Rover Discovery 35th Anniversary Edition is not a party animal overloaded with references to the past. It is a version based on the Metropolitan Edition with a grille and Discovery lettering on the nose that is finished in the color ‘Bright Atlas’. The lower part of the bumpers is also finished in a different colour (Hakuba Silver). More modifications: 22-inch wheels are painted Gloss Dark Gray, the brake callipers are black, privacy glass is standard, and a sliding/tilting glass sunroof is also part of the party. More pampering comes in the form of a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, a cooled storage compartment in the front, four-zone climate control, and extensive leather interior upholstery. You will find the leather not only on the seats but also on parts of the dashboard and the door panels.
The Land Rover Discovery 35th Anniversary Edition is only available with the new mild-hybrid 350 hp and 700 Nm-strong diesel engine called D350, which it now also announces itself. It replaces the 300-hp-strong D300. It costs €168,585 and is therefore almost ten times more expensive than the next most expensive version, the Dynamic HSE.
But there is more news. For example, every Land Rover Discovery, regardless of the chosen version, now has electrically adjustable seats in the front as standard. The driver’s seat also has a memory function. An electrically adjustable steering column is also now part of the standard equipment.
