Lower Tariffs On South Korean Vehicles Benefits Hyundai And GM

South Korean automobile import taxes were reduced from 25% to 15% by US President Donald Trump. Hyundai and General Motors, two automakers, will particularly benefit from this.

The two companies import most South Korean cars to the United States. Hyundai, which is originally South Korean, and General Motors have paid billions of dollars in tariffs this year after Trump imposed 25 percent tariffs on vehicles from South Korea and other countries in the spring.

Last week, the US president announced a reduction of tariffs on certain South Korean products, including vehicles, to 15 percent. Japan and the United Kingdom have also negotiated lower tariffs.
