Maserati Unveils GranCabrio With A Twin-Turbo V6
Eighteen months after the introduction of the new Maserati GranTurismo, here is its cut-open alternative. This is the new Maserati GranCabrio. It will first be available as a Trofeo with an almost 550-hp six-cylinder, but an electric Folgore version is also in the pipeline!
In October 2022, Maserati pulled the curtain on the current generation GranTurismo. Just like the Grecale, it is not only available with combustion engines but also as a very strong electric folly. According to tradition, the GranTurismo will also have an open variant. It has now broken loose: the GranCabrio. Just like its close brother, the Maserati GranCabrio also gets a 750 hp electric Folgore variant, but the convertible now debuts in the most powerful petrol version in which it is available: the Trofeo.
The Maserati GranCabrio Trofeo has a 542 hp and 650 Nm-strong variant of the mighty 3.0 Nettuno V6 with two turbos. That machine is also in the MC20, although it produces 620 hp. Every GranCabrio has a four-wheel drive. Shifting is done with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 4.97-meter-long and almost 1,900-kilo-heavy GranCabrio Trofeo sprints from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 316 km/h. Anyone who wants to race from a standstill to 200 km/h in a straight line only needs 12.2 seconds of patience.
The four-seater convertible has a fabric folding roof that can be opened or closed in 14 seconds at a speed of up to 50 km/h. The roof is available in five different colors. So there is certainly something to choose from that matches the chosen exterior color. You don’t have to be afraid of a cold neck; the Italians supply the GranCabrio with a windshield and a ‘neck warmer’ that blows warm air in three adjustable settings. So tasty.
The 750-hp electric Maserati GranCabrio Folgore will arrive later this year. We are also aiming for the arrival of a milder, 490-hp petrol version, which will be called Modena.
