Mercedes-Maybach Launches Limited S650 V12 Night Edition (Photos)
In the luxury sedan world, only Rolls Royce and Bentley remain champs and the German rivals only try. That has changed as Mercedes-Maybach has launched a limited S650 Night Edition to finally take on the Brits full scale. Although the standard S650 is no doubt the brand’s apex luxury vehicle but the Night Edition offers more.
The Night Edition adds sinister black and carbon-fibre elements to the Maybach S650. It also retains the 6.0-litre V12 twin-turbo engine that generates a stunning 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. This V12 engine is the last of the S-Class series because the S65 AMG has been discontinued. It also makes a great opportunity to enjoy this engine for the last time.
The engine is not the main selling point but the aesthetics and it sure has lots of features that we can’t list all but can mention a few. For starters, it comes with a 20-inch shadow smoked Maybach forged wheels. The car is painted in Obsidian Black and a neat carbon-fibre spoiler has found its way onto the rear trunk lid. The Night Edition badging is subtle, but overall, it looks sleeker and more cohesive than the two-tone paint job that’s offered on the regular Maybach.
The interior is what everyone will recognise but it’s prettier than before. It comes with Exclusive Nappa leather upholstery in a combination of Porcelain and Black. The floor mats are in leather, and the Night Edition badging finds its way onto the centre console. The S650 Night Edition is restricted to only 15 units and it’s specially built for the American market. It will cost almost ₦95m (before shipping) making it a worthy rival to the Bentley Flying Spur and Rolls Royce Ghost.
