Porsche 911 Remains The Best-Selling Sports Car In Europe

Data published by Dataforce shows that the Porsche 911 retained its position as the best-selling sports car in Europe during the first half of 2026.

According to Motor1, the European sports car market shrank by 10 percent during the first six months of 2026, as their number fell from 25,134 vehicles in the first half of 2025 to 22,649 in the same period of 2026. However, the 911 bucked that trend. Porsche registered 13,182 examples of the 911 across the region, an increase of 0.7 percent compared to the first half of 2025.

That gave the 911 a convincing 58 percent share of the entire sports car segment. In other words, nearly six out of every 10 sports cars sold in Europe during that period were Porsche 911s.

Here’s what the European sports car market looks like:

The result is even more significant considering the state of the segment. Sports cars have always been a niche category due to high prices and limited practicality. They are aimed at a relatively narrow audience, and the continued growth of SUVs is not helping. The SUV boom has spread to other segments through so-called coupe SUVs, giving buyers even more alternatives to traditional coupes and convertibles.

Between January and June, sales of sports cars fell in 18 of the 34 countries analyzed by Dataforce. Germany, the most important market, saw a 12% drop to 8,612 units. The United Kingdom followed with 3,541 units, down 9%, while Italy was third with 2,368 units, down 2%. Switzerland overtook France to become the fourth-largest market.

Meanwhile, several smaller markets moved in the opposite direction. Sales increased by 11 percent in Poland, 24 percent in Hungary, and 56 percent in Bulgaria.
