Unbelievable – 5,000 Cars Worth N2.3 Trillion Owned By A Single Man

Brunei is a small country in Southeast Asia, bordering Malaysia. Income from oil, combined with a small population and tight immigration laws allows Brunei’s people to live quite comfortably ($60k GDP per capita) and its Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is the biggest car collector in the world, with over 5,000 vehicles worth a combined total of $5 billion (N2.3 trillion)
Limo:
First things first, every head of state, especially a monarch, needs a limo. The Sultan’s customized Rolls Royce Silver Spur does a great job of reflecting his excessively luxurious lifestyle. The vehicle was custom-made for his wedding day and covered in 24k gold. The limo is valued at roughly $14 million. To put this into perspective, the current POTUS limo with all its high-tech safety equipment is worth roughly $3 million.
Sport and Luxury cars:
The exact composition of this huge collection is unknown, but there are reportedly over 300 Ferraris, 20 Koenigeggs, 6 Daver Porsche 962 LM’s, 11 McLaren F1’s, and 600 Rolls Royces. That’s only 937 of the 5000.
Vintage cars:
Sleek European luxury cars may be the first thing you associate with being the richest royal in the world, but good old American classics occupy quite a decent portion of his garage as well.
Formula 1:
One thing that plays a big part in the size of the collection is the fact that His Majesty is a huge racing enthusiast, which is why he owns several championship-winning Formula 1 racers bought directly from the teams.
