Test Runs For Recently Commissioned Lagos Blue Line Rail Begins This Week – LAMATA

Test runs for recently commissioned 13km-long Lagos Blue Line Rail system from Marina to Mile 2 begins this week.
LAMATA said that the test runs will enlighten members of the public on how to use the system ahead of full operation.
The first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line was commissioned last month by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It covers five Stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina, and will transport 250,000 passengers daily.
This numbers is expected to rise to 500,000 passengers daily when the entire 27km track from Marina to Okokomaiko is completed.
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced that test runs for the recently commissioned 13-kilometres-long Lagos Blue Line Rail system from Marina to Mile 2 will begin this week.
In a Public Notice message posted on its social media networks titled ‘BLUE LINE TEST RUN BEGINS’, LAMATA said that the test runs will enlighten members of the public on how to use the system ahead of full operation.
“The test run for the recently commissioned Blue Line Rail System from Marina – Mile 2 stations, begins this week.
“This aims to acquaint members of the public on the use of the system ahead of full operation. We aim to keep Lagos moving.”

According to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, train rides from Marina to Mile 2 will take “less than 15 minutes”, a journey that usually takes an hour or more.
