The BMW Z4 Might Be Available For Longer Than Anticipated.

The production of the German roadster was initially rumored to end in October 2025. However, a new rumor suggests that the production of the Z4 has been extended until May 2026, specifically for cars intended for the US market.

BMW Blog, citing a reliable source, says that production of the US-spec Z4 M40i has been extended until May next year. Although the source does not provide a reason for the extension, the following data should be considered. Sales of the BMW Z4 jumped 13.1 percent in 2024 after BMW finally made the manual transmission available in the United States. A spokesperson confirmed earlier this year that the manual gearbox “absolutely” contributed to the Z4’s sales growth. “The response has been extremely enthusiastic,” said BMW.

When they saw the increase in sales, BMW probably decided to keep the Z4 a little longer. And with the manual transmission expected to disappear from the company’s lineup entirely by 2030, BMW likely anticipates sales will continue as buyers snap up the last manual Z4 models before they disappear forever.

The same source claims that May 2026 is also the time when production of the Toyota Supra will end. The Supra and Z4 share a platform and are produced on the same production line at Magna Steyr in Austria. But while Toyota has already confirmed a replacement for the outgoing Supra, BMW has made no such promise.
