Today’s Photos : This $1.5 Million Hongqi S9 hypercar with gull-wing doors is China’s answer to Bugatti and Pagani.
Limited to just 99 (from 77) and with a price tag of around 10 million Yuan or $1,466,780 (N610 million, local tax excluded), the Hongqi S9 hypercar is the costliest street-legal car ever built in China.
The S9, dubbed as China’s answer for hypercars from brands like Bugatti, Pagani and Koenigsegg, features a body made of carbon fiber, gull-wing doors as well as a jet-fighter-inspired cockpit.
Its V8T hybrid power system churns out 1,400-horsepower, allowing it to do a 0-62-mph in just 1.9 seconds. It has a top speed of 249 mph, making it one of the world’s fastest passenger vehicles.
Originally planned to enter production this year, the S9 will now be built in Reggio Emilia, an area known as Italy’s “Motor Valley”, that is home to Ferrari, Maserati, Pagani, Lamborghini and motorcycle manufacturer, Ducati.
