Three (3) Toyota models, the Starlet SUV, the Hiace Bus and the Hilux Pickup truck shined at this year’s Nigerian Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) Awards, held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos.
At the Auto Journalists Awards, the newly launched, redesigned Toyota Starlet SUV was voted the Most Transformed New Entrant of the Year 2021 award.

The new Toyota Starlet was re-launched into the Nigerian market in August to the excitement of its dealers by Toyota Nigeria Limited (TNL), the sole distributor of Toyota vehicles in Nigeria.

The Starlet which is placed in the Mini Sub-Compact SUV segment is TNL’s response to the yearnings of its customers that have over the years demanded an entry vehicle.
Also at the event, the Toyota HiAce bus, available with 3, 15 or 16 seats, won the Mini Bus of the Year 2021 award, while the Toyota Hilux truck picked the Pickup of the Year 2021 award.

The Hilux truck, a workhorse, sits atop the class of pickups due to its offroading features and hauling capabilities. Little wonder it is the darling of many Nigerians.
Also at the event, the Hyundai Kona EV was voted the Electric Car Of The Year while the Hyundai Creta got the Nigerian Car Of The Year award, with the latter defeating the new Toyota Corolla and Kia Rio.
