The challenge of connecting these mountain provinces has resulted into erecting some of the highest and tallest bridges in the world over the past decade.

One of these record-breaking bridges is new 30-kilometer circular bridge across a mountain in Shanxi province in northwestern China.

The three-storey 350 meters tall circular highway bridge was designed to decrease the speed of vehicles when going uphill and downhill.

It was built along the steep portion of the 1,370-meter-high Tianlong Mountain in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province.

Drivers say get a “roller coaster-like” feeling when they drive on the bridge. This short clip shows stunning aerial view of the spiral highway.

The winding bridge is described as a giant dragon hovering over the mountain. It has attracted locals and nearby tourists to see and take pictures of the structure.
