Reckless Driving Is The Reason For Night Truck Accidents In Lagos – Says LASEMA
Reckless driving and over-speeding has been blamed for by for oil tanker, truck and container accidents in Lagos.
This was stated by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
According to LASEMA, accidents by heavy duty vehicles occurred at different locations in the metropolis over the night.
The accidents occured at Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun; Hacco junction off Adeniyi Jones; and Ladipo inward PWD, Lagos respectively.
Fortunately, it was gathered that there were no casualties, nor fatalities involved as the agency said, on Monday, that it has cleared several roads that would otherwise have been shut down by the road traffic incidents.
“The incident made LASEMA sounds a note of warning to all residents of that area to abstain from activities that can lead to secondary incidents by actions that can lead to ignition or exposure to any form of naked fire despite the fact that the agency had activated the state’s Emergency Response Plans,” he said.
Following the distress via the agency’s Emergency Toll-Free Lines, Oke-Osanyintolu said he announced abstinence from naked flames as part of necessary precautionary measures, urging residents to take precautions and refrain from igniting any form of flame.
According to him, further investigation revealed that the accident was a result of overspeeding and recklessness on the part of the driver as he was descending the sloppy road which led to the tanker crossing the entire road in a tilted position and spilling its content on the road.
