Lagos First Lady Hosts 100 Elderly Citizens On Lagos Blue Line Train Ride From Marina To Mile 2

Lagos First Lady hosts 100 elderly citizens on Lagos Blue Line Train Ride from the Marina to Mile 2 train stations.
The special event was organized by the office of the Lagos State First Lady, in collaboration with the Orunsii Welcare Foundation.
Commercial operations of the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line was flagged off on September 4th 2023.
The first phase of the Lagos Blue Line spans 37-kilometres from Marina to Mile 2 and covers five stations.
The journey between Marina to Mile 2 lasts about 18 minutes, including 90-second stop at each station.
The Lagos State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday December 12th 2024 joined 100 elderly citizens on a round-trip train ride from the Marina to Mile 2 train stations, allowing them to experience the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line.
The special event entitled “A Day Out with the Elderly”, was organized by the office of the Lagos State First Lady, in collaboration with the Orunsii Welcare Foundation.
The initiative was designed as a social outing, particularly for older citizens residing in old people’s homes, who are often restricted in their mobility.
Speaking during the ride, Dr. Sanwo-Olu remarked that : “They often hear and see the rail systems on television, and I felt it was a good time for them to experience the much-talked-about public rail transport in Lagos.”
Lagos Blue Line Rail
The commercial operations of the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line (Marina – Mile 2) was flagged off by Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on September 4th 2023.
It spans 37-kilometre from Marina to Mile 2 and covers five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina. The journey between Marina to Mile 2 lasts about 18 minutes, including 90-second stop at each station.
