Boat Passengers Keeping Social Distance At The Jetties In Lagos
Early in the week, the Lagos State government released guidelines for the controlled inland waterways transportation as well as jetty operations.
In accordance with the new guidelines, the Lagos State Ferry Services Corporation (LSFSC) has commenced strict enforcement of the guidelines.
The firm now enforces social distance policy at jetties and onboard as a preventive measure against the pandemic.
Social distancing is a public health strategy attempting to prevent or slow the spread of an infectious pathogen. These pathogens include viruses. It involves different methods to keep people physically separate from each other. This is because physical proximity is how many pathogens go from one body to another.
In March, the Lagos Ferry Services Company commenced daily sterilization of boats and life jackets to curb further spread of COVID-19 through the water transport.
The compulsory use of sanitizers and handwashing facilities before boarding by both the passengers and boat captains, the firm is also strictly adhered to.
The LAGFERRY announced that in the event of any suspected case of COVID-19 please call the Authority or 08000CORONA. There are emergency numbers placed on the jetties if you find any passenger or operator violating any of the above guidelines.
