Bugatti, known for its seven-figure high-performance Hypercars including the sold-out Chiron, has expanded its luxury portfolio with the launch of a collection of refined eyewears dubbed the “Collection One”.
To establish a design for Collection One, the French hypercar maker partnered with Larry D. Sands, whose legendary career in the optical fashion space spans over 60 years.
“When I got the call from Bugatti, I was a little surprised, but to be approached by the world’s most powerful and luxurious auto manufacturer, to create their eyewear, was an honor,” Larry said.
“Everything I do is unexpected, and Bugatti Eyewear is some of my most unexpected work yet. Expectation is the enemy of creativity.”
Collection One is a nine-style set comprising of 37 pieces. Each piece is meticulously crafted from solid 925 sterling silver trim with genuine 18k gold and Palladium, carbon fiber or Macassar ebony.
Launched at a prestigious private event at the hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, Italy, Collection One takes inspiration from Ettore Bugatti’s vision – “If comparable, it is no longer Bugatti”.
According to Bugatti, its manufacturing techniques, which involves the use of Positive Vapor Deposition (PVD), have never been employed before in the eyewear industry.
The PVD acts as a Diamond Like Coating to boost its wearing resistance. It is also used throughout the development and production of Bugatti automobiles.
