Electric BMW iX3 Interest “Exceeded The Most Optimistic Forecast”

A month and a half after making its stunning debut at the Munich show, the all-electric BMW iX3 is turning heads and capturing attention. With a sleek design and cutting-edge features, it seems poised to enchant buyers looking for a perfect blend of style and sustainable performance.

The head of the BMW Group, Christian Ah, states that interest in the iX3 has exceeded even their most optimistic forecasts. In Germany alone, over 3,000 orders were received for the iX3 in the first six weeks after its launch at the Munich show, Ah confirmed to Automobilwoche.

Ah added that the number exceeds the order volume of the conventional X3 (G45) during the same period.

One could argue that 3,000 orders sounds modest compared to the figures from China, but the context tells a different story. Germany recorded 2.8 million new passenger car sales last year, while China’s total topped 31 million.

The response seems all the more impressive given that BMW hasn’t started offering test drives. In Germany, the iX3 starts at 68,900 euros, and a cheaper variant is expected next year, at a price that will be closer to 60,000 euros.

Only one version of the iX3 is available at launch. Known as the iX3 50 xDrive, it uses two electric motors that deliver a combined 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque.

Speaking to Automobilwoche, Christian Ach added that the production of the iX3 that the company plans until 2026 “will not be able to meet the high demand.”
