Ford Launches 2024 Edge L (LWB) Version For The Chinese Market

As the Edge has been discontinued for the American market, the crossover SUV still lives on in China and it looks nothing like its American counterpart in any form. The Chinese model gets the L (long wheelbase) version with a 3rd-row seat and other cool stuff that makes it stand out.
The Edge L features a fresh look dominated by horizontal lines, with a wide grille bookended by L-shaped LED headlights. The blacked-out roof is a trendy look, as is the fin in the bodywork that rises at the C-pillar to give the bulky crossover a little pizzazz. The Edge L stretches 196.9 inches from nose to tail, about 8.0 inches longer than the U.S.-market Edge and only a couple of inches shy of an Explorer.
Power comes from a non-electrified turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that produces 249 hp and 278.8 lb-ft of torque. There is also a more powerful self-charging hybrid variant with a combined 271 hp and 298.7 lb-ft of torque. This one is also more efficient with a fuel consumption of 37.3 mpg and a combined driving range of 738 miles between refueling, measured under the WLTC cycle. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through an automatic gearbox and an active 4WD system.
The interior is equally interesting, especially the dashboard with its generous screen real estate. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is joined by a massive 27-inch touchscreen, mirroring other Fords sold in China such as the Evos and Explorer facelift. Amenities include everything from ambient lighting and a head-up display to a Bang & Olufsen sound system and a huge panoramic sunroof. Reclining second-row captain’s chairs and as many as 20 advanced driver assistance systems.
