GAC-Toyota Unveils Latest-gen Wildlander, A Tech-filled RAV4 SUV For The Chinese Market
GAC-Toyota unveils latest-gen Wildlander, which is simply a tech-filled RAV4 for the Chinese market.
Wildlander differentiates itself with body-colored honeycomb grille, hammerhead headlights as well as “Wildlander” badging.
Available only in world’s largest automotive market, price ranges from $23,900 and $32,500 – depending on trim and powertrain.

Late last year at the Auto Guangzhou 2025, GAC Toyota, a joint venture (JV) formed by China’s Guangzhou Automobile (GAC) Group and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in 2004, unveiled the all-new 2026 Wildlander SUV.
Known as the Toyota RAV4 in overseas markets, the latest-gen China-only Wildlander differentiates itself on the exterior with body-colored honeycomb grille and hammerhead headlights as well as “Wildlander” badging on the tailgate.
Based on the six-generation RAV4 that made its debut back in May 2025, the all-new Wildlander also features Toyota’s first China-developed intelligent cockpit, a large-language-model-based voice interaction system, and gesture controls.

Inside, the Wildlander gets a floating 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and an optional 26.4-inch head-up display, unlike the 10.5- or 12.9-inch screens and a larger 12.3-inch instrument cluster in the global models.
At launch, the Wildlander is available in three powertrains : a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 169-hp plus two self-charging hybrids : a 2.0-liter with 193-hp and a 2.5-liter E-Four all-wheel-drive version with 236-hp.
The Wildlander is only available in China, the world’s largest automotive market. Price ranges from ¥169,800 ($23,900) and ¥230,800 ($32,500), depending on the trim and powertrain. For comparison, the hybrid-only 2026 RAV4 SUV starts at $31,900 in the U.S.
Also available in the Chinese market is the more familiar RAV4 SUV produced by FAW Toyota JV, a equally owned joint venture between FAW Group and Toyota Motor Company.
