The legendary Lamborghini Countach LP 500 concept car is back after 25,000 hours of painstaking work from Lamborghini and Pirelli.
Countach LP 500 started the iconic Countach line in 1971 before it was “sacrificed” in 1974 during crash testing.
The all-new Lamborghini Countach LP 500 was commissioned by an “important Lamborghini customer” in 2017.
Lamborghini has unveiled a recreation of the original Countach LP 500 concept car that debuted at the Geneva Auto Show back in 1971, just weeks after resurrecting the name on an all-new limited edition model, named Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The legendary LP 500 model started the iconic Countach line in 1971 before it was “sacrificed” in 1974 during crash testing for development of the production model, dubbed the LP400 Countach.
The new recreation of the 1971 Lamborghini Countach LP 500, finished in the exact “Giallo Fly Speciale” paint used in the original 1971 concept, was commissioned by an “important Lamborghini customer” in 2017.
The process of reconstruction took restoration team at The Polo Storico Lamborghini and Lamborghini Centro Stile 25,000 hours of hard, passionate work.

Pirelli, Lamborghini’s partner of over 50 years, was enlisted to manufacture a set of tyres that replicate the look of the original Cinturato CN12s that were on the concept.
“The Countach reinvented the game for high-perforance vehicles,” says Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
“It became an icon of style language which inspires modern Lamborghini vehicles to this day. To bring the reconstruction of the very first Countach to the Concorso d’Eleganza is an extraordinary feat.”
Lamborghini didn’t disclose how much was paid for the new Countach, but the collector would have pay more than the eye-watering $2.64M sticker placed on the all-new limited edition Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4.
The extraordinary reconstruction of the first Lamborghini Countach LP 500 will be officially unveiled at this year’s special edition of the renowned Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este, on Lake Como.
The model will participate in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, in the Concept category. Attendees will be able to admire this legendary vehicle for the first time in 50 years.
