In Sweden, prototypes will be through demanding winter testing in icy temperatures and snowy landscapes.

Open-top off-roader is the latest addition to the G-Class lineup that already includes the ICE-powered G550 and the electric G580.

Mercedes-Benz has shared the first images of camouflaged prototypes of the eagerly awaited new G‑Class Cabriolet in Austria, where it is completing its first test kilometres of road and test track trials before it makes its way to Sweden.

In Sweden, Mercedes-Benz said that the engineers will put prototype G-Class Cabriolets through demanding winter testing in icy temperatures and snowy landscapes.

“Whether it’s the original G‑Class or the new G‑Class Cabriolet ‑ every single one will ensure customers feel right at home behind the wheel,” Mercedes-Benz said in a statement.

The open-top off-roader is the latest addition to the boxy G-Class lineup. Mercedes-Benz is yet to give details about the upcoming SUV, but the Cabrio maybe based on a G500/G550 and likely offered in the performance G63 model and the electric G580.

“Mercedes‑Benz will share more details in due time about this special edition, which is set to redefine expectations and inspire adventure,” the marque noted.

Mercedes-Benz teaser photos comes weeks after Germany high-performance aftermarket tuning company, Brabus, debuted the all-new 800 Cabrio and XL 800 Cabrio that are based on the high-performance Mercedes-AMG G63 (W 465).
