The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line has been providing passengers with a safe and speedy ride since the first phase of the 37-kilometre project (Marina – Mile 2) became fully operational last year.

As at January this year, the Blue Line has moved 583,000 passengers, just 4 months after Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu flagged off the commercial operations of the Blue Line on Monday September 4th 2023.

The first phase of the Lagos Blue Line is expected to transport 250,000 passengers daily and about 500,000 passengers daily when the entire 37-km track from Marina to Okokomaiko is completed.

Like in BRT buses, riders will be able to use the cowry card to access the electric train. Currently, a full ride along the 13-kilometers stretch between Marina and Mile 2 costs N750 Naira (excluding the current 25% fare slash).

The first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line, from Marina to Mile 2, covers five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina. The journey lasts about 28 minutes, including 90-second stop at each station.

Earlier this month, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) announced the start of test-run of an Independent Power Plant aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of the Lagos State Blue Line Rail.
