Sanwo-Olu Administration Achievements (2019-Date) In Traffic Management & Transportation
Below are Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu Administration’s achievement (2019-date) in Traffic Management & Transportation.
Since he came into power in May 29, 2019, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (BOS), has fulfilled some of the promises he made during election campaign.
In addition to several ongoing projects across the State, the administration of Sanwo-Olu has also been credited for completing several projects worth billions of dollars that he inherited from his predecessor, Akinwumi Ambode.
Below are the achievements of BOS Administration achievements (2019-date) in Traffic Management & Transportation.
• Completed and commissioned Ikoyi network of roads.
• Completed and commissioned Oniru network of roads, Victoria Island.
• Completed and commissioned Ijede Road Phase 1 in Ikorodu.
• Completed and commissioned 1.4 km dual carriage Pen- Cinema Bridge, Agege.
• Completed and commissioned Tedi-Muwo and Link Bridge, Lagos-Ogun boundary roads in Alimosho and Agbado-Oke–Odo and access roads.
• Completed and commissioned 31 network of roads in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
• Completed and commissioned the 13.68 kilometers Oshodi-Abule-Egba BRT corridor.
• Completed and commissioned Mafoluku Bus Terminal.
• Completed and commissioned Yaba Bus Terminal.
• Reconfigured 6 Junction/Roundabouts at Allen, Ikotun, Maryland, Lekki and Ajah (under Traffic Management Intervention Plan -TMIP).
• Launched 500 units of First and Last Mile (FLM) buses.
• Injected 100 high-medium capacity busses for standard routes
• Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL) celebrated the 10 million passenger ridership as an unprecedented landmark achievement.
• Created 700 jobs for Lagosians via LBSL operations.
• Did 110 palliatives and 361 sectional rehabilitations on roads across the state.
• Rehabilitated over 832 inner roads via the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC).
• Reconfigured 6 Junction/Roundabouts under Traffic Management Intervention Plan (TMIP).
• Painted a total number of 30 roads, approximately, 428.97 Kerbs and Medians.
• Marked 64 roads, approximately 100.66kms through which over 3,000 youths were engaged.
• Inaugurated, kitted and deployed 1,017 new LASTMA officers to various locations as Traffic Managers.
• Commenced Cashless Toll Payment at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge in order to reduce traffic gridlock along the axis.
• Launched Articulated and Allied Vehicle Number Plates [AVNP] for safe motoring in the metropolis.
• Added 65 high capacity buses to the existing fleet to ease commuting.
• Commissioned eight new ferries, which have ferried over 305,000 passengers since the commencement of commercial operation in February, 2020.
• Launched a mobile application designed to facilitate easy access to water transportation services in the State.
• Kicked off the Clean-up Campaign on waterways.
• Handed 15 brand new vehicles and 26 motorbikes to the Traffic Enforcement Team.
• Recommenced construction work on the strategic Lagos/Badagry Expressway; and first phase of the road from Agboju to Trade Fair already completed.
• Commenced reconstruction and upgrading of strategic roads such as the 6.05 kilometer Phase 1 Road from Itamaga to Ewu Elepe town, the 7.8 kilometers Owutu-Agric-Ishawo Road Phase 1 and Bola Tinubu-Igbogbo-Imota Road.
• Short-listed 8 contractors for the construction of the 4th Mainland Bridge.
• Commenced the construction of 19.39-kilometre road network in Ijegun-Ijagemo and Ijedodo in Ojo Local Government.
• Massive repair on the Ojota stretch of Ikorodu Road and Motorways – Kudirat Abiola Way, Apongbon Highway and Lekki-Epe Expressway from Abraham Adesanya to Eleko Junction among others.
• Reconstruction and upgrading of Igbogbo-Bola Ahmed Tinubu-Igbe Road, Ikorodu – ongoing
• Commenced the rehabilitation of the 660m length loop Road Oregun and construction of two 30m long Bridges across the Odo-Alaro canal.
• Embarked on the construction of the Agric-Access Road, Phase II, Igando, and the Deep Sea Port road and the Lekki-Ijebu-Ode-Ore Expressway.
• The rehabilitation of Oba Sekumade Road is on-going, while Ipakodo, Ikorodu; Ijegun-Egbe Road and Ishuti Road, Igando has been completed.
• Completed the Samuel Ekundayo/Toga road in Badagry LGA, Ishefun-Camp Davies-Ijon road network in Alimosho LGA, boundary roads with bridge (Phase II) to complement the network of twenty-one roads and two bridges in the axis.
• Completed the Aradagun-Imeke-Iworo-Ajido-Epeme road(phase II) to complement the earlier concluded phase 1.
• Commenced the Multi-level facility (car park) Onikan designed to accommodate 384 cars is at 83% completion, and another multi-Agency office complex with a capacity for over 700 vehicles.
• Embarked on the rehabilitation and upgrading of the 6km phase I of 11 km long Ijede road.
• Embarked on the construction of Lekki Regional Road, which include the Lekki free trade zone, Lekki Ports, Dangote Petrochemical Plant, Lekki Airports etc
• Embarked on 90 palliatives and 261 sectional rehabilitations in Agege; Ajeromi Ifelodun; Alimosho; Amuwo-Odofin; Apapa; Badagry; Epe; Eti-Osa; Ifako-Ijaiye; Ikeja; Ikorodu; Kosofe; Lagos Island; Lagos Mainland; Mushin; Oshodi-Isolo; Shomolu and Surulere.
• Restricted activities of motorcycles & tricycles in six LGAs & nine LCDAs to ensure safety of lives.
• Completed and commissioned the new Vehicle Inspection Services headquarters; and deployed USSD Service (*554*381#) for verification of road worthiness certificate.
