Toyota Finally Ends FJ Cruiser Production In The Middle East With 1000 Special Models
After being discontinued in the US far back in 2014, Toyota FJ Cruiser still continued to wax strong in the middle east (Saudi Arabia) but as they say, all good things must come to an end as the brand’s Saudi Arabian distributor announced the end of global FJ production with a limited-edition model.
Dubbed the 2023 Toyota FJ Cruiser Final Edition, the final production models will be limited to just 1,000 units. Official images of this limited-run model aren’t disclosed, but all of those units to be produced will be similar to the FJ Cruiser Final Edition launched in Japan in 2017. As such, the 2023 FJ Cruiser Final Edition for Saudi Arabia will come with single-tone beige exterior and interior trims, There will be several blacked-out elements on the outside, including the grille, bumpers, exterior mirrors, door handles, and spare tire cover. There will also be a unique numbered badge to highlight its exclusivity.
Power for the Final Edition model comes from Toyota’s tried-and-true 4.0-litre V6, rated at 270 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, increases of 10 and nine, respectively, compared to the American model. The list of standard features includes Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) technology, a Crawl Control function, and an electronically-locking rear differential.
“The FJ Cruiser rides into the sunset leaving lasting memories of one of the most iconic SUVs in Toyota’s rich history,” said Kei Fujita, chief representative at the Japanese automaker’s Middle East and Central Asia Representative Office. “The FJ Cruiser has cemented its status as a Toyota Classic among the 4X4 community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, dubbed as the high-performance off-roading icon,” added Mazin Ghazi Jameel, managing director of Toyota Marketing Operation at Abdul Latif Jameel Motors.
Abdul Latif Jameel Motors has been an authorized distributor of Toyota vehicles in Saudi Arabia since 1955.
