Coronavirus: Keke Napep Gets Safer With Protective Shield (Photos)

As the lockdown is in Nigeria is gradually easing off, some tricycle riders (Keke) have gone a step further in protecting their passengers. They have installed a protective shield to protect themselves and their passengers. The Presidential task force on COVID-19 gave directives on how passengers should commute. The case of Keke is they will be limited to 3 occupants (Including the driver) to help reduce the infection.
The shield, developed by the Simba Group is called the Simba Safety Shield. It is a transparent acrylic sheet, which serves to protect riders and passengers from one another during the commute. The protective shield is a welcome development because it will further protect the driver and passengers.
Speaking about the shield, the National Head of Simba TVS, distributors of TVS tricycles, Mahendra Pratap commented. He said, “We are grateful to our engineering team for developing this truly home-grown innovative solution in a short period of time. He added “This is a first of its kind safety accessory and we have started to scale the production. We got a tremendous response in just one day. We are grateful also to the Keke riders, who play such a vital role in the nation’s transport infrastructure, and are happy that this innovative product is serving its purpose.” He concluded.
