Mercedes-Benz on Wednesday unveiled an electric Maybach coupe concept designed by the recently deceased Louis Vuitton fashion designer, Virgil Abloh.
Dubbed Project Maybach Concept, the electric show car was a collaborative effort between Abloh, who died earlier this week at age 41, and Mercedes design boss, Gordon Wagener.
The massive coupe was designed to inspire the next generation. It is almost 19 feet long, wears a typical Maybach two-tone paint scheme, combining black and tan, and will sit only two people. The battery-electric off-road coupe combines huge Gran Turismo proportions, large off-road wheels and distinctive attachments.

In a press statement, Mercedes said :
“Mercedes-Benz is devastated to hear of the passing of Virgil Abloh. Our sincere thoughts are with Virgil’s family and teams. Now opening the world of our collaboration, and Virgil’s unique vision, to the public we want to respectfully celebrate the work of a truly unique design talent, who created endless possibilities for collaboration through his unbridled imagination and inspired all that knew his work.”

The power of Abloh’s work is not only from the product design, but also the exploratory conversations that his work ignited.
Following the wishes of Virgil’s family, Mercedes-Benz will showcase the battery-electric off-road coupe to the public at the Rubell Museum in Miami, Florida, on December 1st and 2nd.
