China’s FAW To Sell $100,000 Hongqi E-HS9 Electric SUV In Japan

China FAW Group to sell $100,000 ultra-luxury Hongqi E-HS9 electric SUV in Japan next year.
Hongqi initially plans to roll out a hybrid version of the SUV, with the electric model set to follow next summer.
E-HS9 has been chosen to spearhead Hongqi’s expansion into other markets as it packs several premium features.
The ultra-luxury 5 door, 7 seat Sport Utility Vehicle was styled by ex-Rolls-Royce design boss, Giles Taylor.
China FAW Group is targeting Japan’s market for electric cars as the state-owned company gears up to sell its high-end Hongqi E-HS9 Electric SUV in the country next year.
According to Nikkei, the automaker initially plans to roll out a hybrid version of the SUV in Japan under its luxury Hongqi brand, with the electric model set to follow next summer.
Originally previewed as Hongqi E115 in Concept form, the production Hongqi E-HS9 was first shown at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show. The 5 door, 7 seat vehicle, styled by ex-Rolls-Royce design boss, Giles Taylor, costs $80,000 to $110,000.

The E-HS9 has been chosen to spearhead Hongqi’s expansion into other markets, including Norway, as it packs several luxurious features as premium models from established automakers like BMW and Rolls-Royce.
Inside, the all-electric full-size luxury SUV is equipped with a touch-screen infotainment system, a digital dashboard, as well as a touchscreen climate control system.
Other features includes a level 4 autonomous driving tech, 8 selectable driving modes, and a camera instead of conventional side mirrors.
The 436 horsepower version has 76.5 kWh battery-pack, while the 90 kWh version gets 551 horsepower and is able to sprint to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The latter can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 35 minutes with a 108 kW charger.
