LASG Dismisses Anxiety Over The Enforcement Of Ban On Okada As From Wed. June 1st, 2022
LASG dismisses anxiety over the enforcement of ban on commercial motorcycles (Okada) as from Wednesday June 1, 2022.
The Govt advises citizens to go about their businesses without any fear as measures have been put in place to forestall any disturbance.
The LASG on May 18th banned Okada operations in 6 local governments : Surulere, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Apapa, Eti-Osa and Ikeja.
The Lagos State Government has dismissed anxiety over the enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles (Okada) in six Local Government Areas of the state as from Wednesday June 1, 2022.
The law enforcement agencies went on a roadshow today (Tuesday) to assure the public that the ban on Okada operations will be enforced in the affected areas without any compromise.
The Lagos State Government noted the anxiety that has followed the planned enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles in six local government areas as from June 1.

A statement by Commissioner for Information, Mr Gbenga Omotosho, read :
“The law enforcement agencies went on a roadshow today to assure the public that the ban, which was announced by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on May 18, after a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, will be enforced without any compromise.”
“There is no need for any anxiety over the enforcement of the ban, which has been hailed by the majority of Lagosians as a reinforcement of the Lagos Traffic Law 2012 (amended in 2018).”
“The Government wishes to advise all law-abiding citizens to go about their businesses without any fear whatsoever as measures have been put in place to forestall any disturbance. Lagosians and visitors are urged to co-operate with the law enforcement agencies in our collective interest.”
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on May 18th, after a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, announced the ban of Okada in Ikeja, Eti-Osa, Lagos Island, Surulere, Apapa and Lagos Mainland Local Governments.
