Bugatti Reveals ‘One-off’ Chiron ‘55 1 Of 1’ To Honor Iconic Type 55 SS From The 1930s
French hypercar maker, Bugatti reveals ‘one-off’ Chiron ‘55 1 Of 1’ to honor iconic Type 55 SS from the 1930s.
Like the Type 55 SS, the Chiron ‘55 1 of 1’ wears the duotone paint scheme, using the black and yellow combination.
‘55 1 of 1’ has a hand-applied fading ‘55’ pattern above the headlights and over the fenders.
Other visual details includes a black line around the central air intake, yellow line that runs from the rear side to the fenders.

French hypercar maker, Bugatti, has unveiled a Chiron ‘55 1 of 1’, a ‘one-off’ creation that pays homage to Jean Bugatti’s iconic yellow-and-black Type 55 Super Sport from the early 1930s.
The Chiron ‘55 1 of 1’ was created by Bugatti’s customization program, Sur Mesure, led by Jascha Straub, who worked hand-in-hand with the customer and the Bugatti partner in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

“Even 100 years after his time, we have remained totally connected to Jean and his designs” noted Straub.
“And inspiration for us today still comes from Jean because he understood proportions better than anybody else and was the first to offer cars combining comfort and sheer performance.

Like the iconic Type 55 Super Sport, the Chiron ‘55 1 of 1’ wears the now famous duotone paint scheme, using the black and yellow combination so favored by Ettore Bugatti.
In addition, the ‘55 1 of 1’ has a meticulously hand-applied fading ‘55’ pattern above the headlights and over the fenders. Other visual details includes a black line around the central air intake and a yellow line that runs from the rear side to the fenders.

“From a distance, the ‘55’ pattern ensures that the fender appears to be black like on the original car,” said Jascha.
While the Type 55 Super Sport boasted a 2.3-liter straight-eight engine, the Chiron ‘55 1 of 1’ uses Bugatti’s infamous 8.0L Quad-Turbo W16, which puts out 1,600 horsepower.
The Type 55 Super Sport is a rare gem, with only 38 examples ever crafted. The one photographed along with the one-off Chiron Super Sport ‘55 1 of 1’ was loaned from Musée National de l’Automobile in Mulhouse.
