Lancia Gets A New Designer In A Crucial Phase
Lancia is in the middle of a true rebirth and has a new drawing master at the helm. Gianni Colonello becomes Lancia’s designer boss.
Lancia recently kicked off its European restart with the brand new Ypsilon and more new models are in the pipeline in the coming years. To date, this has been worked on under the direct leadership of Stellantis’ group-wide design boss, Jean Pierre Ploue, but now Lancia will have its own design chief, Gianni Colonello.
Colonello is certainly no stranger to Lancia; since 2021, he has been primarily responsible for the brand’s interior design. Under his leadership, the ‘little table’ in the new Ypsilon was created. Now he can oversee the entire design. He does not replace anyone, because there was no general Lancia design chief at the time, but he takes quite a bit of work off the hands of Jean Pierre Ploue. Under Colonello’s leadership, Lancia is now continuing work on the upcoming models, the Delta and Gamma.
