Elon Musk Says AWD Cybertruck Version To Commence Sales Next Year
During a shareholder meeting a few weeks ago, Elon Musk said that the Cybertruck Foundation Series production will come to an end very soon and the standard AWD Cybertruck trim will enter production in Q3 2024. However, an email received by people who reserved the AWD option suggests the non-Fundation Series Cybertruck will not arrive until sometime next year.
Users on Reddit say that Tesla has invited them to upgrade their reservation to the Cybertruck Foundation Series. Due to high demand, the more expensive version will remain alone on the production lines for the rest of this year.
The Foundation Series package means a $20,000 upcharge for a Powershare Home Backup, Full Self-Driving, and a roof-mounted lightbar.
So, in a way, Tesla is forcing some of its users to pay $20,000 extra for the Cybertruck Foundation Series and receive their vehicle early or wait for the $79,990 AWD version in 2025.
