Durban Police South Africa Adds 50 Copies Of Reinforced VW GTI To Its Fleet

There are few countries in the world where the Volkswagen Golf has such a privileged status and if we exclude the German market, one of the countries where the Golf enjoys great popularity is certainly South Africa.
Volkswagen has been present in that country for decades, and it is also known for the modernized version of the first-generation Golf, which remained on the market until 2009. Love for Golf is also shown in the police, so the police of the city of Durban announced on social networks the news about the fleet reinforcement.
A total of 50 copies of the Golf GTI were purchased, and they have already started to serve on the roads of this city. These are samples of the model before the redesign but with respectable performance. The police are also aware of this, so a special driving course has been organized that every officer will have to pass before taking over a new vehicle.
Interestingly, this is not the first case of the purchase of sporty Golf GTIs for the needs of government services. Back in February, the priority crime investigation unit known as the Hawks took delivery of 22 GTIs. Hawks is an elite law enforcement agency that investigates organized crime, economic crime, corruption and other serious crimes.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI in South Africa starts at around 42,000 euros, to which should be added to the cost of adaptation for the needs of the police service.
