Even Now, The Tesla Cybertruck Is Unable To Sail (Video)

Elon Musk stated on the social media platform X in 2022 that the Cybertruck would be “waterproof enough to temporarily serve as a boat, and thus be able to cross rivers, lakes, and even seas that are not too wavy,” one of his “bursts of inspiration.” Now, it has become clear how much truth there was in those claims.

As it turns out, the dream of a Cybertruck that could double as a boat was a bit too optimistic, and one unfortunate Tesla owner found that out the hard way.

On Monday morning, the Cybertruck ended up at the bottom of Ventura Harbor in California, to the horror of its owner, who certainly did not plan to test the “watertightness” of the electric pickup truck in this way.

The cause of this accident is not at all uncommon. This owner is just one more in a series who underestimated the complexity of lowering a boat from a trailer into the sea. According to the fire department commander, the Cybertruck slid into the sea when the owner tried to lower the jet ski down a ramp designed for such tasks. By the time emergency crews arrived at the scene of the accident, the Cybertruck was completely submerged. Fortunately, the driver was able to get out of the vehicle before it sank.

The car was pulled from the sea with the help of a tow truck and a diver who attached a tow rope to it. When the Cybertruck surfaced on land, water was pouring out of every possible opening, including the driver’s window, which appeared to have been left open when the driver jumped out.

After this “undersea expedition,” there is no doubt that the car was destroyed. Salt water, electricity, and modern vehicles don’t go together.
