Toyota Hit Sales Record In Europe

Published

on

In the first six months of this year, Toyota sold a remarkable 635,328 new cars in Europe, more than ever before. Compared to last year, this represents a 1 percent increase, and Toyota is keen to emphasise that European car sales in general have declined somewhat. So, the Japanese are growing against the market.

Toyota Motor Europe also emphasises that of the more than 600,000 new cars sold, a whopping 491,197 had an electrified powertrain. Fully electric passenger cars (excluding the electric vans from a partnership with Stellantis) accounted for more than 22,000 units.

Besides Toyota, TME also includes the Lexus brand, but with 591,115 units, the majority of cars sold were Toyota. The Toyota Yaris Cross was by far the most popular model, with 103,580 units sold. The Yaris followed with 90,549, and then the Corolla (78,920). The best-selling Lexus was the LBX, but with 14,757 units, it still couldn’t quite match the technically related Toyota Yaris Cross.
