Cyber Attack : JLR denies losing track of 40,000 brand new cars that are yet to be delivered to buyers.

Since becoming a victim of a cyber attack two weeks ago, the brand had halted the production of vehicles.

The British luxury marque hopes to restart operations next Wednesday on September 24th 2025.

Tata-owned British luxury marque, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), has issued a response, denying Automotive News Europe reports that the brand doesn’t know where 40,000 vehicles built before the cyber attack are currently located.

“JLR has full visibility and control of vehicles through tracking processes from the factory to market,” the brand denied the claims of missing vehicles in a statement issued to Motor1.

Since becoming a victim of a cyber attack two weeks ago on August 31st, the brand had halted the production of vehicles at its UK facilities, with JLR hoping to restart operations next Wednesday, September 24.

“Today we have informed colleagues, suppliers and partners that we have extended the current pause in our production until Wednesday 24th September 2025,” JLR said in a statement on Tuesday September 16th.

“We have taken this decision as our forensic investigation of the cyber incident continues, and as we consider the different stages of the controlled restart of our global operations, which will take time.”

“We are very sorry for the continued disruption this incident is causing and we will continue to update as the investigation progresses.”

⁠The impact has not only affected its UK vehicle production lines and suppliers but also affected retailers and thousands of existing car owners who face huge delays in getting their vehicles repaired due to parts supply chain.
