BMW i4 Faces An Uncerntain Future Due To The Arrival Of The i3
Following the debut of the BMW i3 electric sedan, the question arises: what will become of the current BMW i4?
Motor1 spoke to BMW product chief Bernd Kerber about it during the launch of the new i3 in Germany. He confirmed that the i4 won’t be around much longer and that the i3 will effectively take its place for the time being.
However, a true successor to the i4 could still be in the works.
As Kerber said, “The i3 is more or less the successor to the i4. But you’ll see the portfolio evolve over the next few years as our electric offering expands—so there’s more to come. For now, though, the i3 is essentially the successor to the i4.”
There have already been rumors that the current i4 is nearing the end of its life cycle, and this practically confirms it. Despite getting a facelift in 2024, reports suggest that its production will end by the end of 2026.
