Toyota Recalls 82,000 Automobiles Due to Blank Driver Displays
Due to a flaw in the 12.3-inch combined metre display, Toyota is recalling four cars for safety reasons. This recall, which affects 82,000 cars nationwide, highlights the drawbacks of popular digital displays in contemporary cars. When the car is started in this situation, the driver’s display may go blank, making it impossible for them to view important warnings or indicators. Additionally, thousands of Toyota models have already been recalled due to a similar problem.
The recall is not yet mentioned on the NHTSA’s website, but we do know the following 2024-2025 models are implicated:
- Toyota Land Cruiser
- Toyota Mirai
- Lexus UX
- Lexus GX
These versions don’t adhere to federal safety regulations because of their potentially blank displays. A collision or injury could result if the vehicle is unable to alert the driver to a possible problem. Not all of the aforementioned trims might be affected. For example, only premium trims with the 12.3-inch screen would be impacted because the 2025 Lexus UX features a baseline seven-inch multi-information display.
By late July, Toyota will notify owners of these models, and dealers will provide free software updates. Customers can get further information by calling the Toyota Brand Engagement Centre at 1-800-331-4331 before that time. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can also be used to determine whether your model is included in the recall group; however, it is not yet clear whether these VINs can be searched on the NHTSA website.
