Lexus Updates The GX For 2027 And It Became More Expensive
The 2027 Lexus GX adds standard four-door Smart Access entry and available ventilated second-row seats, but all trims see price increases due to rising production and import costs. The SUV retains its 349-hp twin-turbo V6 and 9,096-lb towing capacity.
Minor updates include standard SmartAccess and ventilated second-row seats, though prices have risen by $600 to $1,565 across all trims. The SUV retains its 349-hp twin-turbo V6, 10-speed transmission, and 9,096-lb towing capacity. Lexus hasn’t cited specific reasons for the hikes, but ongoing import tariffs on Japan-built vehicles and rising production costs are likely factors.
Toyota recently reported an initial projection of a ¥1.38 trillion annual impact from U.S. tariffs, a figure that has since been revised downward by ¥70 billion. The company is concurrently addressing approximately ¥1.2 trillion in increased material costs—specifically regarding aluminum and memory components—and intends to offset nearly half of this burden through incremental price adjustments. While currency fluctuations are cited as a factor, their overall impact has been mitigated by favorable exchange rates in Toyota’s recent financial results.
Although it is difficult to isolate the exact influence of tariffs on the Lexus GX price hikes, it is noteworthy that the imported SUV saw a $2,750 increase across all six trims for the 2026 model year. Since its 2024 debut, the base GX price has risen by $4,835, while the Overtrail+ trim has seen an increase of $7,760. Furthermore, the anticipated hybrid variant remains unavailable; given current pricing trends, it is highly probable that its future introduction will carry a significant premium.
