Adamawa Lawmaker, Jilantikiri, drops car for a bicycle ride to protest new fuel price, which sells over N500 from N198/litre.

He lamented that majority of Nigerians do not have the money for the new petrol price regime.

Adamawa Lawmaker stressed that leaders like him ought to lead the protest against the trend.

Haruna Jilantikiri, the Chief Whip of Adamawa State House of Assembly, has protested against the current hike in fuel price by dropping his personal car for an electric bicycle ride.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu, during his inauguration speech, declared end to fuel subsidy regime, a move that led to a hike in price of petrol by some oil marketers.

Following the development, Jilantikiri, who represents Madagali Constituency at the Assembly, told newsmen he now runs his daily activities by taken bicycle rides.

He lamented that majority of Nigerians doesn’t have the money for the new petrol price regime, which now sells over N500 from N198 per litre, stressing that leaders like him ought to lead the protest against the trend.

“The overwhelming majority of citizens cannot afford to drive cars or ride on their motorcycles considering the current situation,” he said.

“We are supposed to pack our cars and use bicycles to identify with our electorate,” he said.

Haruna Jilantikiri appealed to the Federal Government to address the problem without delay to ease the hardship already being experienced by Nigerians.
