FRSC Dispatches 19,560 Pairs Of Vehicle Number Plates To FCT In October 2026

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dispatched 19,560 pairs of motor vehicle number plates to the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in October 2026, reaffirming its commitment to efficient vehicle registration services.
According to the Corps, the dispatches were made in two batches on October 8 and October 20, 2026, covering different categories of vehicle number plates required for registration and identification.
The first batch, dispatched on October 8, comprised 15,205 pairs (30,410 individual number plates), including 15,169 pairs of private vehicle number plates, 32 pairs of private fancy plates and four pairs of out-of-series plates.
The second batch, delivered on October 20, consisted of 4,355 pairs (8,710 individual number plates). These included 1,998 pairs of private vehicle plates, 999 pairs of commercial vehicle plates, 8 pairs of city government plates, 900 pairs of dealer plates and 450 pairs of articulated vehicle plates.
The FRSC said the figures were released to promote transparency and accountability in the production and distribution of vehicle number plates. It also clarified that dispatching plates to registration authorities is separate from the administrative processes involved in issuing them to applicants.
The clarification comes amid concerns from motorists who experience delays in collecting their number plates after completing vehicle registration. The Corps acknowledged such challenges, noting that timely issuance requires effective coordination among the agencies responsible for different stages of the registration process.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to working with relevant government agencies, including State Motor Licensing Authorities, to address operational bottlenecks and improve service delivery.
The FRSC maintained that it would continue collaborating with stakeholders to improve efficiency and ensure proper vehicle identification. Motorists experiencing delays were advised to seek clarification from the appropriate registration authorities.
“The Corps remains committed to its statutory responsibility of ensuring proper vehicle identification and strengthening road safety through effective regulation, reliable vehicle registration systems and sustained institutional collaboration in the overall interest of the motoring public,” FRSC said in a statement.
