Hyundai Nigeria Launches Locally Assembled Venue SUV (Photos And Prices)

We all thought that it will be called the Creta but Hyundai Nigeria has gone for the international Venue nameplate. The best part is that it’s now assembled locally in Nigeria making it among the 1st set of 2020 vehicles to be assembled. It was teased on valentines day that the 2020 Venue will be assembled but the coronavirus pandemic obstructed the plans.
According to Brand Manager Mr. Gaurav Vashisht, they received SKD (Semi Knocked Down) units for the cars 2 months ago. As soon as the lockdown was lifted they began assembling the units at their plant in Gbagada Lagos. The Brand Manager also said that assembling is done 2 cars at a time due to social distancing and not to overcrowd the parking bay. As the vehicle is locally assembled, it is assured that it is fully tropicalised for Nigeria.
For the Nigerian market, the venue comes in two variants, namely: Venue 1.6l Elegance GL and Venue 1.6l Evolution GLS. The venue is fully loaded for a locally assembled car as it comes with lots of features. Some of these features include immobiliser, driver/passenger Airbags, Reverse Camera with Parking Sensors and anti-lock braking system (ABS). It also comes equipped with Hyundai Smartsense technology which enables it to detect the closing gap between the vehicle and pedestrians ahead.
The pricing too was revealed as it starts from ₦10.7 million for the 1.6l Elegance GL while the 1.6l Evolution GLS is ₦11.7 million. According to Hyundai Nigeria, the Venue offers real value for money based on the features it comes equipped with. Power is gotten from a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine that outputs 121hp. It mated with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.
