IShowSpeed Showcased Culture During African Tour, Rode In Flying Car And EVs While In China
IShowSpeed showcased African culture during nigerian tour, rode in flying cars, electric vehicles (EV) during his visit to China.
During his visit to Nigeria, IShowSpeed, who drew large crowds while hanging out of a car’s sunroof in Lagos traffic.
IShowSpeed gave the world, especially the U.S audiences, a rare glimpse of Chinese-made EVs and other hi-tech advances.
During China visit, IShowSpeed rode in BYD’s Yangwang U8 SUV that has the ability to float and drive (swim) in water or flood for up to 30 minutes.
Popular American YouTuber and Instagrammer, Darren Jason Watkins Jr, popularly known as IShowSpeed, attracted huge crowds this week during his visit to Lagos Nigeria, as part of his 20-nation tour of Africa dubbed “Speed Does Africa”.
During his visit to Nigeria, IShowSpeed, who drew large crowds while hanging out of a car’s sunroof in Lagos traffic, said the goal of the tour “is to show African culture, the people on the streets, and the talent that doesn’t usually get seen.”
While his visit to Nigeria and Africa as a whole was to spotlight culture and entertainment, he gave the world, especially the U.S audiences, a rare glimpse of Chinese-made electric vehicles and other hi-tech advances during his visit to China in April 2025.
In one of the live-stream episodes seen by Autojosh, IShowSpeed was marveled with the swimming capabilities of BYD’s Yangwang U8 electric SUV, which boasts a life-saving ‘Emergency Float Mode’ that allows it to float and drive (swim) in water or flood for up to 30 minutes.
In another video, the 20-year-old American influencer was also shown the Automatic Valet Parking feature of the Aito M9, a luxury smart SUV dubbed the “Chinese Mercedes-Maybach GLS”.
While the class-leading features of the Yangwang U8 and the Aito M9 wowed IshowSpeed, the most impressive experience during his tour of China was when he flew in a Flying Car (EH216-S) – becoming the first Influencer to do so.
