LAMATA Resumes Red Line Passenger Operations, Following A Halt Last Week

LAMATA announces resumption of passenger operations of the Red Line Service, following a halt last week.

Says train operation was halted to review its operational mode in order to improve service delivery to stakeholders.

Governor Sanwo-Olu officially launched the passenger operations of the Lagos Red Line on September 15th 2024.

First phase of the 27-km metro service reduces travel times between Agbado – Oyingbo to 55 mins from close to three hours.

The Red Line boasts eight stations at Oyingbo, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, Iju and Agbado (in Ogun State).

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced the resumption of passenger train operations of the Red Line Service (LRMT), following a halt last week to review its operational mode.

“Following the overhaul of the operational procedure of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line, passenger train operations will commence with the 5.20 pm train schedule today (Friday),” LAMATA said in a statement.

“Train operation was halted last week to review the Red Line operational mode in order to improve service delivery to stakeholders.”

“The Red Line’s train schedule provides for two trips in the mornings and four trips in the evenings from Monday to Friday. Today, 5.20 and 6.40 train trips will be deployed.”

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu officially launched the passenger operations of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line on September 15th 2024, marking a significant milestone for the state’s transportation system.

Boasting eight stations at Oyingbo, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, Iju and Agbado (in Ogun State), the first phase of the 27-kilometre metro service is expected to reduce travel times between Agbado and Oyingbo to just 55 minutes from close to three hours.
