Mercedes-Benz X-Class Pick-Up Discontinued

Published

on

Mercedes-Benz X-Class was a mixed bag when it was introduced. Sadly, shortly after its introduction, its production is coming to a premature end. The X-Class is based on the Nissan Navara pickup by a joint venture with Renault-Nissan Alliance. The pick up is relatively expensive. There are also claims that its performance didn’t live up to expectation. Mercedes-Benz has announce that production will end this May.

Another factor for the demise of the pickup is the fact that it wasn’t sold in America. As we all know America is the highest buyer of pickups worldwide. Mercedes-Benz also said they are killing the X-Class because it was part of Daimler’s cost-cutting measures. Sales didn’t even help either because the truck just sold a mere 15,300 units worldwide in 2019. This by no means made the X-Class the poorest selling Mercedes of that year.

Mercedes-Benz promised to still offer sales after service for the pickup truck despite its cancellation.
